To address the issues of the Minerals Mining and the Metals Sector, Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized a 2-day mega Conclave, “Minerals, Mining and Metals e-Conclave” on 9th & 10th December 2020.
Day I of the Conclave had the theme as “Preparedness for Post COVID Revival & Global Play: Indian Minerals and Mining sectors”
Other Focus areas of discussion on Day I were Indian Coal Industry: Power, Beyond Power and Future of Coal Mining and Coal Gasification: Enabler for a Clean Energy Future.
Day I witnessed participation of industry leaders such as Shri Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd.; Shri Anil Kumar Jain, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines, Government of India; Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog; Shri Sumit Deb, Chairman & MD, NMDC Ltd.; Shri Anil Kumar Jha, Former Chairman & MD, Coal India Ltd.; Shri Rakesh Kumar, Chairman & MD, NLC India Ltd.; Mr. V R Sharma, MD, JSPL and many others. The Inaugural Day of the e- Conclave also witnessed international participants like Mr. Angelos Kokkinos, Deputy Asst. Secretary, US Department of Energy; Mr. Vello A. Kuuskraa, President, Advanced Resources International, USA; Mr. Don Stevenson, Managing Director & Vice President, Energy Supply & Conversion, Gas Technologies Institute, USA
Day II of the Conclave had the theme as Indian Minerals, Mining and Metals sectors: Preparedness for Global Play
Other Focus areas of discussion on Day II were “Indian Steel Industry: Facing the Challenges of New Normal days & Beyond”, “Building AtmaNirbhar Bharat, Ensuring Make in India: Future of Steel Industries in India”, “Preparedness for the Economy of Future: Perspective from one of the largest Steel Industries in India”, “Indian Iron Ore Industry: Strategies to combat the supply concerns and other constraints of growth” and – “Raw Materials for Steel: Role of Metallurgical Coal & Scrap Metal”
The conclave was attended by participants from various steel producing companies, steel products & steel alloys producing companies, Engineering Industry, Equipment & Machinery producing companies, Refractory companies, Steel-re rolling Mills, Sponge Iron Manufacturers, Metals Trading Companies, Institute of Metals, Institute of Welding, Department of Geology from Calcutta University and Jadavpur University, Consultants and also Engineers. The participation included big corporate as well as small & medium companies to individuals like faculties, Engineers, Designers & consultants. It got a wide coverage in media and it crossed the viewership of more than one lakh in social media.
