Panel Discussion on “India’s Data Protection Law: A Boon or Bane for Businesses?”, 23rd March 2021, Virtual Platform
The Legal Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) organized a Panel Discussion on “India’s Data Protection Law: A boon or bane for businesses” on Tuesday, 23rd March 2021 at 5 p.m. on Virtual Platform.
The objective of the panel discussion was to discuss at length about India’s Data Protection Law which entails to Data Protection/Data Privacy of an organization and/or of an individual in this On-line World.
The Panel Discussion was moderated by Ms. Sucharita Basu, Partner, AQUILAW and the session comprised of multidisciplinary, experienced and accomplished professionals like Prof. Rajesh Babu Ravindran, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Shri Kalyan Mukhapadhyay, IPS, DIG (Special), CID West Bengal, Ms. Yukti Sharma, Assistant Vice President Legal, Piramal Capital & Housing Finance, Smt. Reetwika Banerjee, Cyber Security Consultant, Accenture, Mr. Bivas Chatterjee, Special Public Prosecutor and last but not the least, Mr. Joyjyoti Misra, Director and Head Legal - (South Asia & India), Uber who deliberated on whether India’s data protection law is a boon or bane for businesses.
The Panel Discussion had an over-whelming response and the total number of participants comprising of Industry experts, legal professionals, representatives from academia, etc was 100 plus approximately.
The Panel Discussion was an eye-opener for the industry fraternity as it created a platform to understand what are the various measures to be taken for maintaining the safety and security of various kinds of data which would really help a business rather an industry to operate seamlessly as well as efficiently.
