The 19th Edition of India International Mega Trade Fair (IIMTF), 23rd December 2020, 3rd January 2021, Science City Grounds, Kolkata
Amidst the Pandemic and a new threat of Corona Virus Strain, while the World is trying to strike a new balance and revive the Global economy, The Bengal Chamber and GS Marketing took a leap by successfully organizing the 19th Edition of India International Mega Trade Fair. The Fair was but a way forward in the direction of The New Normal as we appreciate and understand the importance of Trade Fairs and Exhibitions in the economic development of the country. As a part of our vision for the economic development of West Bengal, The Chamber fully understands the importance of Trade Fairs like these to improve business to business and business to consumer synergies. These fairs provide an ideal Launch pad for the exhibitors to showcase their products and services. Among other benefits, these fairs provide the business houses and businessmen a face to face meeting opportunity, which are seen as extremely cost effective means for achieving trade objectives.
During the Ceremonial Inauguration of the Fair on 24th December 2020, Mr. Deb A Mukherjee, President, BCC&I said “The Bengal Chamber as part of its inclusive approach gives equal focus to business and community in value creation and the 19th IIMTF promoted by BCC&I and delivered by GS Marketing was a worthwhile initiative in that direction where there was 'something for everybody’. And what was noteworthy was that, despite Covid challenges, we could put together this year's Trade Fair which had hopefully helped small and medium enterprises and generate consumer demand and confidence.”
Mr. Prakash Shah, Chairman, GS Marketing, mentioned, ’Given the global Pandemic, we were extremely careful while undertaking the Fair, and adhered to all Government protocols like maintaining social distancing, insisting on Masks for all, taking adequate sanitization measures like creating Sanitization tunnels, making adequate provisions for Paddle Sanitizers (150 nos) placed at convenient locations, etc. Moreover, we took adequate measures to restrict number of guests and visitors inside the Pavilion at all times as per Govt. orders.’
In spite of Global Pandemic and obvious constraints and difficulties arising out of COVID 19, we had exhibitors from across India and abroad from Ghana, Lebanon, Afghanisthan, Pakistan, Iran, Thailand, Bangladesh and Nepal who came together in this platform today not only to exhibit their products but to network, engage and to ultimately grow economic values for the State and the Country. As a leading Industry body, The Bengal Chamber strongly believed that successfully organising 19th edition of The India International Mega Trade Fair in these COVID times had gone a long way in instilling Business confidence in the minds of Buyers and Sellers from different parts of the globe. While last year we had about 1200 stalls, this year, keeping in mind the safety protocols in place, we were compelled to reduce the number of participants to around 380 stalls. We were thankful to the MSME Department for their support. Around 66 participants showcased their product in the Fair.
Sellers from across the globe were present amidst us with products like Dry Fruits, Silver Jewellery, Processed as well as Dry Food Products, Leather products, Handicraft products, Garments, Textile products, Furniture, Artifacts, Lifestyle products, Fitness and Health accessories, Kitchen and Chimney Products, etc.
The Successful completion of the Fair this year has helped renewing Business confidence in the minds of the Buyers and Sellers.
