"One Sun, One World, One Grid: Journey towards Net-Zero" A Curtain-Raiser of the 14th Edition of BCC&I’s Environment and Energy Conclave, 16th July 2021, Phygital Platform
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a special programme on ‘One Sun, One World, One Grid’ where Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, International Solar Alliance was the Keynote Speaker addressing on the theme.
It is an ambitious and prestigious project of India to set up a trans-national electricity grid supplying solar power across the globe aiming to connect 140 countries.
Dr. Ajay Mathur was felicitated as a global expert and leader spearheading the adoption of renewables and especially solar energy and contributing significantly to the journey towards net zero carbon emission.
Mr. Deb A Mukherjee, President, The Bengal Chamber handed over the citation to Dr. Mathur and invited Mr. Aloke Mookherjea, Past President and Mr. Arun Kumar Mukherjee, Mentor, Energy and Environment Committee shared their thoughts of being associated with Dr. Ajay Mathur for close to 5 years from the Chamber.
Keeping with the conditions of the new normal, the programme was presented in phygital format converging the online platforms with the venue proceedings.
Mr. Nick Low, British Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata shared the roadmap to the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 which will be hosted by UK, with Italy, and to be held in Glasgow in November 2021.
Mr. Neil Spann, CEO and Mr. Don Scott, Business Development Director, Power Roll Limited joined from UK virtually and made a presentation on ‘Affordable and Accessible Solar for All’. Power Roll Limited has reinvented solar to generate energy anywhere and everywhere, using any surface. Their flexible solar film can produce ultra low cost electricity.
Storage is intrinsic while addressing solar energy. Mr. Ketan Chitnis, Vice President, Stationary BU, Exide Leclanche Energy Pvt Ltd joined from Mumbai making a presentation on ‘Promising energy storage options’.
Mr. Manfred Auster, German Consul General and Mr. Nakamura Yutaka, Japan Consul General were present.
Past President Mr. A Lahiri, Mr. Sandipan Chakravortty and other senior members of the Chamber graced the occasion.
